职务:
Prof. Roohollah Noori is a water and environmental engineer with extensive experience in aquatic ecosystem sustainability. He completed his BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees in Iran, specializing in water and environmental engineering. In 2014, he joined the University of Tehran, Iran’s top-ranked university, as a faculty member, where he served as a MSc-PhD supervisor for a decade before moving to the NIGLAS in early 2026. He currently holds the position of Professor at NIGLAS.
Prof. Noori’s research advances the interdisciplinary field of limnology, climate science, computational modeling, and socio-ecological systems, with a focus on the sustainability of both surface water and groundwater environments. His work centers on developing innovative frameworks to quantify and predict pollutant dynamics across spatial and temporal scales, integrating mechanistic models, satellite remote sensing, data-driven approaches, and policy-relevant tools.
He has authored more than 120 SCI-indexed publications, accumulating over 8,000 citations and achieving an H-index above 55. His first- and corresponding-author papers have appeared in leading journals such as PNAS, Nature Communications, Nature, Environmental Science & Technology, Water Research, Water Resources Research, Earth’s Future, Journal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, and Journal of Hydrology. Since 2021, he has been consistently listed among Stanford University’s Top 2% Scientists. In 2024, he was recognized as an outstanding national scientist by both Iran’s National Science Foundation and the Vice Presidency for Science, Technology, and the Knowledge‑Based Economy. He has also secured several competitive research grants from leading international universities, supporting his work in hydrology, limnology, and lake-river ecosystem sustainability. His research has been highlighted in outlets such as Nature Sustainability.
Prof. Noori has led multiple national-level projects in Iran, funded by Iran’s Ministry of Energy. He also contributes actively to the scientific community through editorial service. He serves on the editorial boards of npj Clean Water, Ecological Informatics, Science of the Total Environment, and Scientific Reports, reflecting his leadership in the fields of water and environmental sciences.
